ROOF's Post-Orphanage Education Centre is situated in Moscow's city centre in the picturesque St. Andrew's Anglican Church. Our students are graduates of orphanages where ROOF works, or they hear about us from a ROOF teacher, another student, a partner or a sponsor. The Russian Education Ministry and the Russian parliament have even sent us students!

The Centre is a thriving community of orphanage graduates, teachers, administrative staff and a host of guests! Here, orphanage graduates feel themselves to be part of a large family while they are receiving top-quality education. Our students know they can rely on the support and help of ROOF staff at this difficult, transitional time in their lives. The Centre is a place where orphanage gradutates can start to build self-confidence - step by step - through education. Our teaching team at ROOF is unique in that they are chosen for their personal qualities as role models, as well as their professional qualifications. At ROOF, we know that our students learn a proper code of conduct only through example. Our students can look up to our team of responsible and caring adults. This is a key component of our programme because, as orphans, these young adults have in the past often been denied exactly this type guidance and positive role model.

The learning atmosphere at the Post-Orphanage Education Centre is informal, as we believe that a relaxed and comfortable student is far more likely to succeed at his studies; after all we are most concerned about imparting knowledge. But we also teach our students that education is not simply about receiving diplomas and passing exams, it is about enriching ourselves as human beings - both as individuals and as members of our community. It is an added bonus if we get a diploma or job opportunity along the way!

Through education, ROOF Centre students learn the value of:

Individual choice and responsibility. Curators guide students to define their own goals and 'Individual Plans', then students are guided through the process of meeting these goals.
Respect. At the Centre, students learn through example to respect themselves and to show respect in their relationships with others.
Hope. We give students a hope that they can succeed. We believe there is no such thing as an 'unteachable' pupil.

All of these resources are available not only to ROOF's Post Orphanage students, but also to the children in all the orphanages where ROOF teachers work.
